Nuremberg, February 11th, 2019 | Mazda Carsharing is growing extensively. As of today, vehicles from the Mazda fleet are available at a total of 164 Lidl branches. Thus, the current service including 51 branches in North Rhine-Westphalia is growing by 113 additional Lidl locations in twelve other German federal states. The sustainable service, which received the Connected Car Award in 2018, is now available at a total of 339 locations and in 15 German federal states. Thanks to the successful cooperation of Mazda, Deutsche Bahn, Choice and location partners such as Lidl, Germany's largest carsharing network Flinkster continues to grow.

The station-based carsharing service Mazda Carsharing works completely through the Mazda Carsharing app or the Flinkster app of Deutsche Bahn. The cars come fully equipped including sat nav and span the entire Mazda Model range – from the sporty roadster Mazda MX-5 to the urban compact car Mazda2 all the way up to the versatile Mazda CX-5 SUV with its large trunk size.

"After the successful start of our cooperation in North Rhine-Westphalia, we quickly decided to expand the network together. Our main aim was to create an easily available mobility solution. We are pleased that customers in other German states are now also benefiting from this attractive offer", explains Wolf Tiedemann, Head of Central Services at Lidl Germany.

"During the test phase we found out that our wide vehicle range and flexible pricing model, which was designed for very different target groups, is well received. With Mazda Carsharing, we are successfully developing into a holistic mobility provider", says Stefan Kampa, Senior Manager Retail, Fleet and Mobility at Mazda Germany.

"Carsharing offers are increasingly easy to find. The idea of offering alternative mobility solutions in those places, where many people pass by every day, works. Parking spaces at retailers are just as useful as the provision of carsharing vehicles at train stations and central locations in cities", says Björn Bender, Head of Sales at Deutsche Bahn Connect.

Complemented with public transport, Mazda Carsharing provides an attractive alternative to the privately-owned car. The sustainability of the service is underlined by the fact that the station-based model does not occupy public parking spaces.

Four strong partners provide contemporary mobility solutions
A cooperation between Mazda, Deutsche Bahn, Lidl and the mobility service provider Choice brings the sustainable mobility trend carsharing to many territories all over Germany. Therefor, Mazda provides a total of 850 vehicles that can be booked through the Mazda car sharing app or the Flinkster app of Deutsche Bahn, which is Germany’s largest provider of stationary carsharing with more than 4,500 vehicles in total. In order to make the vehicles available in attractive locations for customers, food retailer Lidl provides parking spaces exclusively for the carsharing vehicles.
